Use this template in an etymology section of a word that is a clipping. Do not confuse with {{clipping of}}, which is used in definition lines rather than etymology sections.

Parameters

уреди
1
The first parameter (now optional) is the etymon; for example, {{clipping|automobile|lang=en}} produces “Clipping of automobile”.
2, 3
Additional etyma, if the clipping is a clipped form of more than one word.
nocap (no capitalization) and nodot (no dot)
By default, this template's output looks like a complete sentence, in that the word "Clipping" is capitalized at the beginning and a period (full stop) appears at the end. To suppress these behaviors, the boolean options nocap and nodot exist. For example, where {{clipping|automobile|lang=en}} produces “Clipping of automobile”, {{clipping|automobile|nocap=1|nodot=1|lang=en}} produces “clipping of automobile”. This is useful for prefacing and/or following the template with more explanation.
notext=1
Omit the initial text altogether.
lang (language code)
The lang parameter should be set to the language code; for example, {{clipping|mangeln|lang=de}}.
gloss1, gloss2, gloss3
For non-English etyma, it's usually a good idea to provide a gloss (very brief translation); this makes the etymology easier to understand.
sc (script template) and tr1, tr2, tr3 (transliteration)
Use if the etymon isn't in the Latin/Roman alphabet, and defaults do not suffice.
alt1, alt2, alt3 (alternate display text)
For words in some languages, we use a slightly different form for display purposes as for linking purposes; for example, for Latin entries we write "ō" to indicate a long "o", but we still use "o" in the article title (see e.g. dubito#Latin). In such cases, the article title should be passed in as the unnamed parameter, but the display-purposes form should be passed in as alt1 etc.
nocat (no category)
If the nocat parameter is set to a non-empty value, this template won't add its article to any category. (This usually should not be needed, but is added for edge cases.)
