quotation mark (plural quotation marks) (normally plural)
- Either of a pair of quotation marks used to denote a quotation in writing. In North America, South Africa and Australia, they may look “like this” (called inverted commas) or "like this" (straight quotes). In the United Kingdom and Ireland, they usually look ‘like this’ or 'like this'.
