The {{etystub}} template is used to mark an etymology which is a stub: information in an Etymology section that is overly short and/or lacking detail. {{etystub}} should normally be used directly after the end of an etymology, on the same line, not on a new line. It takes three optional parameters:

  • lang or 1: the language code or language name of the language in question. See Wiktionary:Languages.
  • nocap: to have the initial 'T' of 'This' as a lowercase 't'.
  • nodot: to omit the final period/full stop.
  • nocat: omits categorization.
